Emma Santoyo is currently a senior at St. Mary’s University majoring in English Communication Arts. She first began St. Mary’s as a business major, but by the end of her first year she knew it wasn’t for her. English has always been her favorite subject because she loved to read and write. After careful consideration she switched to a humanities degree where she felt she would be happiest in the long run and able to have a career in that field doing something she loved. Since attending St. Mary’s she has written a few articles for the school newspaper.
Santoyo has spent most of her life in Burbank Illinois, a small suburb outside the city of Chicago. When she was sixteen she and her family moved to Buda, Texas where she graduated from Jack C. Hays High School. In high school Emma expressed her creative side through theater and art.
She plans to graduate this December in 2014. Her goal after graduation is to obtain a job in public relations or advertisement. She is still figuring out which field would suit her best. She would prefer working for smaller companies who have a good set of company morals and help give back to the community.
